Monitoring Engineer (NOC team)
Description
The
Infrastructure Monitoring Engineer role is a team lead role within Guidant
Partners' NOC team. This position is responsible
for multiple monitoring platforms/applications that provide; proactive system
monitoring/alerting of Guidant Partners' client infrastructures, preventative
maintenance scripting/automation, and service delivery reporting.
Responsibilities
Strategy &
Planning
- Lead efforts in product/platform/tool;
evaluations, scalable architecture builds and integration between
platforms/applications for efficient and effective proactive infrastructure
monitoring and maintenance.
- Develop standardized monitoring processes for network/server/end-device
monitoring that result in problem identification and reduction of false positives.
- Develop infrastructure preventative maintenance
scripting/automation, service delivery auditability, and service statistical
reporting.
- Devise and deliver solutions to enhance service
offerings, prevent known errors, and highlight issue/growth trends.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and service
delivery trends.
Operational
Management
- Manage NOC team work efforts; service boards; ticket
prioritization, adherence of defined SLA timeframes, and preventative
maintenance jobs/tasks.
- Define and execute routine audits, client
service reporting,
- Make recommendations for any system
reconfigurations (minor or significant) based on request and/or problem trends.
- Develop and implement training programs/documentation,
standardize processes to streamline work efforts and increase efficiencies.
- Coordinate with other teams the client
on-boarding of monitoring services and data backups.
Position Requirements
Knowledge & Experience
- Minimum 2 years experience with a monitoring
application such as; LabTech, Zenith, Level Platforms....
- Scripting knowledge/experience
- Knowledgeable of SNMP/MIBs, TCP/IP, WMS
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with
administration, troubleshooting and issue remediation of Microsoft servers, data
networking and security equipment, data backup solutions, and patch management
- Knowledge of service ticket operations and
support (Connectwise helpdesk application a plus)
- Knowledge of Unix, Linux environments a plus
